For the last couple of weeks Russ has been working extremely hard as “The Talent” for a series of Energy Efficient Building training videos. The series was commissioned by the State of Virginia as part of a massive program to weatherize and improve the energy efficiency of the state’s housing stock, particularly for low-income earners.
The state has been promised over $100million as part of the federal stimulus package and the first thing they need to do is develop the materials to train people to be Energy Auditors and Weatherization installers.
Apparently there is no-one in Virginia qualified and experienced enough to speak knowledgeably on the subjects of Energy Audits, Blower Door Tests, Infrared Camera Analysis, and the like, because they had to come all the way to Missoula, Montana to find the right guy. (Actually the film production crew is based here and there happens to be people like us who know what we’re talking about). We received some very gratifying feedback from the producers who told us that we were recommended to them by a number of people who said that we were the most knowledgeable people on the subjects of energy efficiency and building science.
Russ was pretty nervous at first having never been in front of a camera before. But he soon found his groove and was able to settle back into what he knows best, Building Science and Energy Efficiency.
Then Gary got to have a go as “The Talent”and we got to turn our office into a film set.

The great thing for us is that we should be able to make the video series available via our web-site once it is completed. So keep an eye on this web-site for more information.
We also have plans to develop our own training materials for designers, builders, home-owners, and business owners about how to make their buildings more energy efficient. Until we get all of that set up feel free to contact us regarding your specific needs. We are always happy to share our knowledge.
